I’m caught in a trance as this narrative plays like muscle memory over and over again.
The inhuman treatment of life has a vice grip around my vocal chords.
I’m screaming but no one hears me.
My dreams of my son’s and daughter’s future are beginning to look like a mirage in a desert.
This feeling of doubt is sitting front and center as I watch stories being reported skewed in an one sided point of view.
Families being ripped a part by a cancerous erosion of past wounds that never healed.
Systematic behaviors that are rooted in hate being continuously taught to generations after generations sensationalizing the ideology of superiority over another.
In this very moment of disparity in the midst of a “new norm” the narrative of our norm has catapulted a cry, a siren, a demand for change!

You expressed the true debt of living in a racist society. I grew up sitting in the back of the bus with my mother. I remember the signs for restrooms and water fountains,”white only” and “negros”. We would stand outside in back of the store for our food order. I remember being taught “Don’t put your head down. Always look them straight in the eyes”. I taught my children. Now, the hatred impacts my grandchildren! No Lord God, please intervene in the hearts and minds of people to stop hating. With tears in my eyes and sorrow in my heart, people speak of YOU and don’t know they are sinning against YOU.

This is so heartfelt. I remember my mom sharing her experience of growing up during the civil rights movement. Then I can remember the first time I experienced racism and I was shocked that things had not changed. It was covered up.

Excellent narrative. Captivating the voice of many persons of color. How many lives must be lost, How long must our cries for equality go unheard, before the world changes. I say RIGHT NOW!!! I am summoning our KRAZY FAITH!! Believing the change we are seeking is beginning NOW with each of us doing our CIVIC DUTY to see these changes happen.
Thank you Z for igniting the fire in me to move from spectators to starting lineup.
I have snapped my fingertips raw after reading Your words

Powerful, nothing but the truth!! It’s crazy how we are treated as African Americans; even looked at in this society… this message is powerful and right on point with how things are today.

Thank you so much! I believe change is coming because of all of the young leaders demanding change and refusing to settle from crumbs.

Well done Z! This is so powerful. I’m still can’t believe that in 2020 we are still going through this unjust for African Americans. The last week and half I’ve been sitting in front of the TV in disbelief shaking my head. We have to fight for change so the next generations don’t have to deal with racism.

Yes, it is a narrative that plays out all too often in this not so united, United States of America. Your post speaks to the raw TRUTH of our past and present circumstances. But change is coming and that is what so many are afraid of, CHANGE.
